Breathe Life Back Into Your Upholstery: So much of our lives happen on the fabric in our homes – family meals shared on upholstered dining chairs, popcorn fueled movie nights on the couch, days spent curled up in your favourite armchair with a good book. After a while, your furniture may start to show signs of age, it may look lifeless, dull, and nothing like the furniture you fell in love with. There’s no need to say goodbye to an old family favourite and hand over your hard earned money to buy a new piece. We’re here to help you breathe life back into your upholstery.
Get a Leg Up
One of the simplest, most cost-effective ways to breathe life into your upholstery is to add or expose the legs on your couch. The mid-century modern look is in right now and that means adding some height and airflow to your living room set. If the legs are hidden by a skirt on your couch, you can remove the staples that hold the skirt in place. Attach the remaining fabric under the couch and stain the legs if necessary. If your couch already has legs but they’re stubby and short, unscrew them and bring one with you to your local hardware or antique store. This ensures when you find a new set it will be a perfect fit.
Fluff it Up
If your couch is experiencing some sagging in the back cushions or if your throw pillows have gotten beat down one too many times, it may be time to fluff, restuff, or replace them. But before you spend money on stuffing or new pillows, learn the (not so delicate) art of pillow fluffing. The same way you rotate the tires on your care for even wear, you should be rotating your sofa cushions. As long as material on the back is the same as the front, you should be rotating your couch cushions once a week and while you’re rotating them give the crevices a quick vacuum too. To fluff a pillow find the midpoint on each of the sides and hit that point hard a few times, do this on all four sides of the pillow. Next get to work on the front and the back, start at the middle of the cushion and work outwards hitting the pillow with your hand. Be sure to take and rings off before fluffing pillows, and if your hand gets tired you can use a tennis ball in a clean sock to hit the pillow with instead.
Refresh and Protect
Has your couch lost the shiny lustre it used to have? Have the colors become dull and flat with a greyish brown hue? Over time, the build-up of oils can trap dirt and make your couch look grey and dingy. No amount of vacuuming will help, the fibres of your couch or chair have become inundated with oils and dirt and it’s time to breathe life back into your upholstery. Our eco-friendly cleaners paired with powerful hot water extraction make cleaning your favourite couch or chair a breeze! With a professional upholstery cleaning, you’re guaranteed the best clean and powerful suction to leave your upholstery sanitized and completely dry in hours. Once you see your favourite furniture looking its best again, you’ll want to keep it that way. We can help with that too! We offer Ultra-Protection, a stretchy, polymer-based upholstery sealant that works its way deep into the fibres and moves with you to protect your clean upholstery from spills and stains.
