Getting dog pee out of carpets is no easy feat. We love our furry friends, of course, but not the messes they’re capable of making. New additions to the family especially, like puppies or kittens, aren’t always able to contain their excitement. Pet urine poses the risk of numerous health issues. These can range from respiratory issues to strong allergic reaction. Let Dazzle CC share with your our best tips for getting dog pee out of carpets!
Getting Dog Pee Out of Carpets: Where to Start
You have to act fast! The longer the urine is able to soak into the carpets, the worse the damage is going to be. Quickly blot the stain with a dry paper towel. Make sure not to rub it further into the carpets. If you’re wanting to avoid a long-term odor issue, it’s crucial to do this as soon as you notice the stain. After you’ve blotted the stain, put a few drops of green dishwashing detergent mixed with a bit of water onto the area before covering it with clean paper towel again. Allow the mixture to sit and absorb as much of the urine as possible.
What if the accident happened earlier on in the day?
Not a problem! Follow the same first step by blotting the stain, but then sprinkle it with baking soda and allow it to sit overnight. After the patch dries overnight, spray it with distilled white vinegar and don’t be concerned if the carpet bubbles a bit while the compounds interact to clean.
