Sofa cleaning 101: Getting you sofa cleaned is like giving it a bath in a way! We do daily maintenance for things that are fabric like laundry & vacuuming, so it makes sense that our sofas deserve the same love too! Your upholstery is an investment, and one that with the right care can last you a really long time. When you have children and pets around, undoubtedly your couch is going to get messy sometimes, and the wear and tear it endures can start showing up over time. Getting your couch cleaned helps maintain it’s natural appearance from how it should look, and not by what it’s been through!
So now you want to get your sofa cleaned and you want to make sure you get this done right. You may have been searching for how to clean your sofa by googling something like ‘sofa cleaning vancouver’ – well look no further! Here we have your guide on how to prepare for sofa cleaning:
Vacuum first
Giving your upholstery a good vacuum is an important first step in getting it prepped for cleaning. Make sure you vacuum deep into the couch/under the cushions to get any loose particles like crumbs, pet hair off of there. This allows the superficial layer of dirt to be removed so that the deep cleaning can penetrate the fabric fully with nothing getting in the way. Maybe you will even find some change in there!
Move objects
It is best to move any objects or furniture that surround your sofa away from there for the time of cleaning. Push back any coffee tables, side tables, and move the couch a couple of feet away from any walls if you can. This will allow our technician to have easy access to all areas of the sofa, for thorough cleaning and to make sure that all your other belongings are safe.
Dazzle clean
When our technicians arrive they will do a post-inspection with you of the couch were they will assess all areas of the couch, and address any stains or areas of concern that you may have. Any stains that your sofa has will be treated individually with a pre-treatment spray. They will also spray a pre-treatment all over the surface areas of the couch to start dislodging all dirt from the couch and prepare it for it’s deep clean! Next, they will begin the cleaning using high heat water and extraction suction to deep clean every inch of the couch. Once they have finished, they will do one last inspection with you of the couch to go over all areas, and again address anything that may have been a concern.

Dry time
Drying times vary depending on the fabric type of the couch and the environment it is in. Drying time can typically be anywhere between 3-6 hours. We recommend not sitting on the couch until the fabric is completely and evenly dry. Once it has fully dried, you can move your couch back to it’s proper place and then it’s back to enjoying life on your now newly cleaned sofa!
Guard
At Dazzle we always want to make sure you get the most out of our services. One way to maintain and protect your sofa after cleaning is by getting your technician to apply ultra-protection guard on the sofa after cleaning. Ultra-protection guard is an additional service and is a great defense to have on your sofa. It helps to protect it against long-term wear and tear, and most importantly any accidents or spills that may happen to your sofa because hey, life happens!
