What does rug cleaning cost in Richmond? Prices by rug size
Richmond homes lean heavily on area rugs. A lot of City Centre and Brighouse condos have hard floors in the living and dining rooms, so the rug under the coffee table is the only soft surface. Townhouses in Steveston and Terra Nova often add a runner by the door and a rug under the dining table. Family houses in Broadmoor, Seafair and Hamilton can have three or four big rugs on the main floor alone. If you’re pricing a rug clean, here’s what it costs with us, with real numbers.
Our rug prices
Rugs are priced by size, plus GST:
| Rug | Price (before the promo) |
|---|---|
| About 10×8 or bigger | $90 |
| Smaller than 10×8 | $65 |
Wool and synthetic rugs are the same price. We clean the rug in your home, right where it lies, so there’s no pickup fee and no week without your rug. The visit minimum is $210, one item on its own is $150, and the seasonal promo comes off jobs above the minimum. GST goes on after.
Which price is your rug?
Measure in feet, without the fringe:
- Door mats, bath mats and 3×5s: $65.
- 4×6, 5×8 and hallway runners: $65.
- 8×10: $90. An 8×10 is the same as a 10×8.
- 9×12, 10×14 and bigger: $90.
Round, oval or unusual sizes are fine. Add the measurements to your booking along with a photo, and the technician confirms the size on arrival.
What Richmond homes usually come to
Worked examples from our price list, before the promo and GST:
| Home | What’s cleaned | Price |
|---|---|---|
| City Centre one-bedroom | One 8×10 living room rug | $150 (one item) |
| Brighouse two-bedroom | An 8×10 and a 5×8 | $210 (minimum) |
| Terra Nova townhouse | An 8×10 under the dining table, 6 dining chairs (seat and back) | $270 |
| Steveston townhouse | A 9×12, an 8×10, two runners | $310 |
| Broadmoor or Seafair house | Three large rugs, two small rugs, two carpeted bedrooms | $580 |
Two small jobs to notice. One large rug on its own is $150. Two rugs that come to less than $210 pay the minimum, so there’s room to add the entry runner or a dining chair or two for little or nothing extra.
Wool, silk and hand-knotted rugs
Wool rugs are cleaned at a wool-safe pH so the fibres and dyes stay healthy. Synthetic rugs can take hot water extraction. On any rug with strong colours, we test for colour bleed in a hidden spot before cleaning, then clean the fringe and groom the pile before we leave.
Send a photo of the rug and its tag when you book, so we know the fibre before we arrive. Hand-knotted, silk and antique rugs get a closer look first. If one needs specialist off-site washing, we’ll tell you honestly rather than risk it.
Rugs over hard floors
Most Richmond rugs sit on hardwood, laminate or tile, so drying matters. A rug dries best flat, with a fan running or the heat on. Thin flat-weaves dry fastest, and thick wool piles take longer, so plan to keep furniture off a thick rug until the evening. Most rugs and carpet are dry in 3 to 6 hours.
If you have carpeted bedrooms too, they go on the same visit at $90 an area. Our post on carpet cleaning in Richmond walks through what whole homes cost.
