Blot, Don’t Rub!

Grab a clean white rag (or 2 or 3 depending on the severity of the stain) and a bowl of cold water. Start at the edges of the stain and blot towards the middle. It can be helpful to use 2 cloths, one to wet with clean water and one to blot up the stain, if the clean rag gets soiled, move on to another clean rag and continue the process. You don’t want the stain to dry out completely while you’re still trying to remove it, so keep dabbing with fresh clean water as you go.
