How to find the best carpet cleaning in Vancouver: 8 things to check

Search for the best carpet cleaning in Vancouver and you get a page of companies that all say “best”, “professional” and “deep clean”. Some are great. Some quote $99 for the whole house and add $200 at the door. Here are eight things to check, what a good answer sounds like, and how we answer them ourselves, so you can compare any two carpet cleaners in Vancouver fairly.

1. What equipment do they use?

The biggest difference between a great clean and a so-so one is the machine. A truck-mounted unit heats water on board and has far more suction than a portable or a rental, so it rinses deeper and leaves the carpet damp, not soaked. Ask what they bring. We use a truck-mounted Cleanco Compact 47, plus a portable unit for towers that don’t allow hoses.

2. Is the price written down before they arrive?

The best companies publish prices or give you a clear total before booking. Watch out for “from $X a room” with a long list of extras. Our price list is public: $90 an area before the promo, a $210 minimum that covers up to 3 areas, and you see the total before you pick a time. Our guide to comparing quotes and spotting hidden fees has the questions to ask.

3. Is pre-treatment included?

Traffic lanes, spots and pet areas need a pre-treatment before the rinse. Some companies charge extra for it. It should be part of the clean.

4. How long will it take to dry?

With proper extraction, most carpet is dry in 3 to 6 hours. If someone says “overnight” or “a day or two”, the machine or the method isn’t pulling enough water back out.

5. Do they check the fibre?

Wool, nylon, polyester and olefin all clean differently. Wool needs a wool-safe clean at the right temperature. A good cleaner asks, checks, and tests a hidden spot on anything unusual.

6. What happens if you’re not happy?

Look for a walkthrough before and after, and a clear promise. Ours: if anything isn’t right, we fix it on the spot or come back, and if we still can’t make it right, you get a full refund.

7. What do the reviews say, and how many are there?

A 5.0 from 12 reviews tells you less than a 4.9 from hundreds. Read the recent ones and look for specifics: on time, price matched the quote, stains came out, they were careful with the house. Dazzle is rated 4.9 from 300+ Google reviews, and you can read them on our reviews page.

8. Are they local, and can they do the whole job?

A local crew knows Vancouver buildings: elevator bookings Downtown, parking in Kitsilano, stairs in East Van character houses. And it’s simpler when one visit covers the carpet, the couch, the rugs and the tile. Ask whether they do all of it.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Is the price per room, per square foot, or per area, and what counts as a room?
  • Is there a minimum, and what does it cover?
  • Is pre-treatment included? Deodorizing? Moving furniture?
  • Truck-mounted or portable?
  • What’s the guarantee, in plain words?
